Computer Chess on an 8x8x8
board Ever seen one of those
multi-tiered chess boards on a sci-fi movie/TV
show and wanted to play? This is something I
wrote while learning Java and it seems to be
popular so I thought I'd share. Freeware of
course :-), works on XP and I'm told OSX (though
I haven't tested that). JRE 1.5 Enjoy! |

A Beginner's Garden of Chess
Openings... "The first moves of a
chess game are termed the "opening" or "opening
moves". A good opening will provide better
protection of the King, control over an area of
the board (particularly the center), greater
mobility for pieces, and possibly opportunities
to capture opposing pawns and pieces." |

March of the AJAX
Games It seems the evolution of games
that happened on the PC and on-line is repeating
itself in the AJAX arena. First come the board
games -- see Ajax Chess, 64Pola, and Morfiks --
and the muds -- hive7, then the low fidelity
arcade games, then the first person shooter
games. |

the BOINC framework, the same as SETI@Home, we

this chess variant is the incredible amount of
variations. That will not change with this
project but some guidelines seems to be useful

World Champ and a
mom On the 25th March 2006, WGM Xu
Yuhua became the 11th Women World Champion. She
dispatched IM Alisa Galliamova of Russia in the
finals with a winning score of 2.5-0.5. All this
is well known from reports from Chessbase. What
was not publicised was she was 4 months
pregnant!! I think that?s a first for women
chess. |

Rock, Paper, Scissors: World RPS
Society RPS is gaming at its most
basic, its most fundamental. Take anything away,
and it ceases to be a game at all. Every other
game, at some level, contains RPS. Like chess or
fencing, the rules are simple, but the game
itself is as complex as the mind of your
opponent. |
