Wu-Tang's RZA wins chess competition
The round began with Monk aggressively and
effectively trapping and snatching up many of
RZA's pieces. At the point where many in the
room felt it was curtains for RZA, the crowd
surprisingly heard the words "checkmate". Surprisingly,
"The Abbot of Wu-Tang" turned it around, winning
the match with a back rank mate.

Artist Julio Aguilera Runs With
the Bulls
To Julio Aguilera, New York will always
be Washington Square Park. Shortly after emigrating
from Venezuela, he put his last $20 to work
at the chess tables, walking away with more
than $200 and a lifetime ban. Three decades
and countless self-reinventions later, he has
decided to honor his adopted city with the sculpture
series New York Bull.

Vishy's Blog: To be No 1, I stopped
worrying about it
In January this year, I was 15 points behind
the World Chess Champion. Ivanchuk, the World
Number I then, was at 2787 points. Obviously
it was a big gap that seemed extremely difficult
to patch in just one game. But I decided to
set the anxiety aside and give the game my best
shot. I stopped thinking about being Number
I. [Vishwanathan Anand]

Life is filled with fun and humour:
Check mate
The braille chess board is made of wood
and each of the 64 squares has a hole which
can be felt by the sense of touch. The chess
pieces have small nail - like projections at
the bottom so as to fix in the holes for every
move.

The Democrats really do deserve
what they get
The Democrats have no game plan. They don't
know how to sell meta issues. They play chess
one piece at a time, one move at a time, without
having any concept that there's a larger game
going on, and that the move they make right
now will impact the move they make ten moves
from now. Basically, the Democrats are politically
high as a kite.

One more Chak De moment in Indian
sports in the form Viswanathan Anand.
In the season of celebrating the Power of

A Made-in-India guy who learnt chess from his
